at the break of day
I heard them say
Don't dwell on what
has passed away
or what is yet to be
Ah the wars they will
be fought again
The holy dove
she will be caught again
bought and sold
and bought again
The dove is never free
Ring the bells that still can ring
forget your perfect offering
there is a crack in everything
that's how the light gets in

There is no need to seek impatiently for greatness, fame or wealth. The Earth and Sun do not hurry; they follow their own path at their own pace. If the Earth were to accelerate and complete one rotation in three hours instead of twenty-four, we would be in big trouble! The most important thing in life, too, is to find a sure and certain path and confidently advance along it.

There's A Hole In My Sidewalk
(Autobiography in Five Chapters)
By Portia Nelson
(1) I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost ... I am hopeless. It isn't my fault. It takes forever to find a way out.
(2) I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in again. I can't believe I'm in the same place. But it isn't my fault. It still takes a long time to get out.
(3) I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in ... it's a habit. My eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately.
(4) I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it.
(5) I walk down another street.

The first three foundations of Buddhism... And your life...
The universe... And your life... Are the same thing... All the power, energy, purity, fortune, and happiness that exists in the universe are at the center of every cell of your body at this very moment... The purpose of your existence is to find this connection, exercise it, strengthen it, and manifest it in your life, your family, your nation, and the world... This is what Buddhism means by the word "enlightenment"...
The law of Cause and Effect is absolute... Every thought you have, every word you say, and every deed you do, brings an effect back to you... You cannot hide, even for an instant, from this fact... Every thing you do, without exception, comes back to you eventually... This is what Buddhism means by the word "Karma"... Karma is fluid, it changes moment by moment as you continue to make causes... This is the true purpose of living... To master your mind and the causes that it makes... To eliminate the causes of misery and replace them with the causes for happiness...
Your environment is your mirror... A clear mirror shows the world without agenda, without a single lie... Your life has a mirror as well... And that is the world you live in... Your body, your health, your wealth, the way the world treats you... This is you, seeing yourself; without agenda, without a lie... The practice of living is to create the reality you want; to use your sufferings as motivation to change... You are the most powerful person in your life... You decide what kind of life to build...

I learned that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws will be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings.
~ Henry David Thoreau
