Death of Oceanus

In classical antiquity, Oceanus was believed to be the world-ocean, which the ancient Romans and Greeks considered to be an enormous river encircling the world. In Greek mythology, this world-ocean was personified as a Titan, a son of Uranus and Gaia. In other words, our World Ocean is the powerful deity offspring of Father Sky and Mother Earth, which we humans are treating as a garbage can for our plastic...

It's an enormous problem, and we should clean up our act. If you can help, or know someone who can, please visit Ocean Rescue Project to contribute ideas and solutions.

If there's anything I can persuade you to do, it's to cut out the plastic you're using on land so we can stop it from ever reaching the sea. We can't let this go on indefinitely. Do we really want plastic dust going to the molecular level, invading the entire food web of the ocean?

Water is life, the place from which we originate. If we let the seas collapse, so shall we.
